What is it about?

Ever notice how a phrase, behaviour, or joke spreads quickly? That’s the power of role modelling. When someone demonstrates a behaviour, others naturally follow. As a manager, your actions set the tone for your team’s culture and performance.

Managers are always on show. Their words and behaviours are constantly interpreted by those they lead. What shadow do they cast? Are they aware of the influence they have? Are they the managers they wished they had themselves? The way managers lead directly impacts team performance and the culture they create.

A manager cannot ‘not’ communicate. Every action—positive or negative—sends a signal. Managers set the standard for how to behave, influencing team motivation, engagement, and productivity. If their behaviour isn’t aligned with organisational expectations, it’s unrealistic to expect their teams to follow suit.

In this practical and high-energy session, managers will explore what it means to be an authentic leader and a role model for their teams.

What will it cover?

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Identify the legacy you want to leave as a manager and how to role model the behaviours you want to be known for.
  • Reflect on the shadow you cast as a manager and how your words, actions, and behaviours influence your team’s mindset, culture, and performance.
  • Model behaviours that inspire, energise, and engage your team rather than drain their motivation.
  • Recognise the emotional signals you send and how they impact your team’s climate and motivation.
  • Demonstrate the power of vulnerability to create a thriving team environment.
