Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I)

We think differently about diversity, equity & inclusion. (DE&I)

At Elev-8, we’ve simplified this complex concept, so people can become comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Diversity is not a silver bullet. Diversity without inclusion can backfire and damage a business.

DE&I isn’t just a buzzword or a box to tick exercise – it’s a crucial part of today’s business landscape. And yet, many organisations struggle with turning good intentions into impactful actions.

At Elev-8, we approach DE&I differently. We’ve broken down the complexities of DE&I to make it more accessible and actionable. Our focus goes beyond the nine protected characteristics; we understand that true inclusion is the key to unlocking a culture where everyone can thrive.

Diversity without inclusion can hinder rather than help. Our programs are designed to move beyond the surface, addressing the fears and challenges head-on, and paving the way for a genuinely inclusive environment.

Our approach to inclusive leadership

Embed inclusivity at the heart of your business

Inclusive Leadership is not about mere tolerance, nor is it an “initiative” or a “quick fix” for the sake of legislative compliance. It’s about truly exploring, understanding, acknowledging, and celebrating the differences that are critical to the long-term success of every organisation.

We facilitate an inclusive leadership mindset and provide a toolkit in the armoury of leaders so they can view the climate in which their people work through an inclusivity lens.

Develop your leaders

Achieving inclusion in the workplace requires a culture, which is set by those at the top.

To reap the benefits of your employees’ diverse perspectives they need to feel safe, listened to, valued, and respected by a leader who should be visible, approachable, and supportive.

Inclusivity begins with an organisation’s leaders and achieving it should be prioritised for legal, moral, and ethical reasons – as well as positive business performance outcomes.

Mentor your allies

Allies are key to an organisation’s ability to create a truly inclusive workplace, supporting colleagues from under-represented groups. Allies need support too – its challenging to shift from a day job to a role where you’re expected to champion, influence and drive change in the organisation.

Help allies be effective and succeed by recruiting with care, not just based on good intent. Supporting them with a development plan is critical.
