Elev-8 quarterly update: new partnerships, team climate thinking, and client impact
It’s been another busy quarter at Elev-8.
Alongside launching our first book and continuing work with long-standing partners, we’ve also started several new client partnerships and seen some encouraging results from programmes already underway.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening — from new thinking around team climate to the client work we’re proud to support.
Team climate takes centre stage
Last year saw the launch of our first book: Dropping the C-Bomb: Why Team Climate Crushes Culture.
We launched the book at the UK Employee Experience Awards, and it has since reached Top-5 Amazon bestseller status in its category.
The core idea is simple.
Team climate is the sub-culture at team level — how people feel, perceive and respond to their work environment.
If culture is the personality of an organisation, climate is the current mood inside teams.
That’s why performance rarely shifts because of new values posters or strategy decks.
It shifts because of the day-to-day climate leaders create, including:
- how challenge is handled
- how safe it feels to speak up
- how accountability shows up
- how people behave when the pressure is on
Culture is the outcome.
Climate is the lever.
We’ve been grateful for the response so far, including feedback like:
“The big idea is simple but powerful: people don’t experience culture in posters or values statements — they experience it in their team climate.”
“It’s bite-size, practical and thought-provoking. Content I can digest easily and put into practice one step at a time.”
If you’re leading a team and wondering why performance still feels harder than it should, this will likely resonate.
New partnerships
One of the most enjoyable parts of our work is getting to know a new client and the challenge they’re trying to solve.
Every partnership begins with curiosity, conversation and a shared ambition to build teams that perform.
This quarter we’ve been delighted to start working with several organisations:
- Direct Line (Motability)
- Kemet
- Exclaimer
- Salesforce
- Guildford Waverley Council
We’re excited to get started and grateful for the trust placed in us.
Continuing partnerships
The other side of that coin — and something we’re particularly proud of — is when partnerships grow over time.
Meaningful behaviour change rarely happens overnight.
This quarter we’re pleased to be:
- entering year four working with Keyloop
- continuing our partnership with Cancer Research UK
- supporting B Braun for another year
Long-term collaborations like these are where the real work happens.
Recognition
Programmes delivered with our clients have also been shortlisted for the Learning Awards.
Congratulations to the teams at:
- B Braun
- Market Harborough Building Society
We’re looking forward to the finals.
Client impact: Virgin Media Ireland
One example of the work we’re proud of is our programme with Virgin Media Ireland, focused on strengthening customer conversations.
The results have been encouraging:
- 32% uplift in SIM sales
- €2.94m revenue growth
- €1m savings in retention spend
- 29% uplift in device sales
When teams feel confident having the right conversations with customers, performance tends to follow.
Power, safety and the courage to disagree
Sean recently shared an article exploring how power dynamics shape behaviour inside teams.
When hierarchy increases, the perceived risk of speaking up often increases too.
Research from Harvard’s Amy Edmondson shows that when the interpersonal risk of speaking up rises, learning behaviour falls.
Put simply:
Psychological safety doesn’t mean comfort.
It means confidence that candour won’t carry a political or social cost.
Or as Sean puts it:
The courage to disagree isn’t a personality trait. It’s a climate outcome.
Thank you to the clients and partners we continue to work alongside — the teams doing the real work of building better climates every day.
If the idea of team climate resonates with you, feel free to get in touch.
